This beach may still sound foreign at the national level. Its popularity is not as famous as the tourist area of Batu Malang or Kawah Putih in Ciwidey. However, this unique beach in Banyuwangi is already quite popular among the people of East Java.
The waves that roll on the beach are one of the destinations that foreign tourists love, especially those who like surfing.
Although called the Red Island, the sand on the beach is not red but rather brownish white. Only when the dry season arrives, the beach area will look reddish.
Address of Banyuwangi Red Island precisely that is located in Sumberagung Village, Pesanggaran District. To go to this tourist spot, you can use public and private transportation.
With public transportation, from the city of Banyuwangi in Brawijaya Terminal you can take the Minto bus or Ujang Jaya to Pesanggaran, then get off at the market (Pesanggaran). From here it is continued by renting a motorcycle taxi to the beach.
If you are from the direction of Kota Jember, get off at the Jajag Terminal. Then take the bus to Pesanggaran. Furthermore, the same as above.
From the city of Banyuwangi the distance must be taken about 80 km or takes about 2.5 hours to reach the coast of the Red Island. Along the way, available signposts will direct you to Pulau Merah Beach.
If you use a private vehicle, you can take the Banyuwangi – Rogojampi route to find a red Jajag light, where there is a white tiger statue in the middle. From this red light, keep turning south and following the signs for Pesanggaran-Pulau Merah.
Those who depart from outside East Java can choose flights or trains to Malang or Surabaya.
By using a road trip, Malang / Surabaya – Banyuwangi can be reached for approximately 8 hours by road. Or you can use a plane, because some airlines have opened the Banyuwangi route.
